Power points, added circuits and full rewires
Extra points where you actually need them, new circuits for the heavy stuff, and full rewires when the old cable has run out of life.

This is the page if any of these is happening
- Double adaptors and power boards doing the work of a power point
- Extension leads running under doors or across a hallway permanently
- Black rubber or fabric-covered cable visible in the roof space
- An oven, aircon or induction cooktop that needs its own circuit
- A shed or a granny flat running off a lead from the house
From one extra point to the whole house
At the small end this is a genuinely quick job — a new double point beside the bed, four along a kitchen bench, a weatherproof one on the alfresco, an outdoor point for the pool pump. We run new cable rather than daisy-chaining off whatever is nearest, because that is what keeps circuits within their rating.
In the middle sit the dedicated circuits. Ovens, induction cooktops, ducted and split system aircon, pool equipment and workshop tools all want their own run back to the board. Sharing them with the kitchen points is the single most common cause of the tripping people ring us about.
At the far end is a rewire. Homes built before about 1970 in the inner north often still have vulcanised rubber insulation, which goes brittle and drops off the copper when it is disturbed. If we find that in your roof space we will tell you plainly, show you a photo, and stage the rewire room by room so you are never sleeping in a house with no power.
What is included
- New points and circuits
- Cable run properly back to the board, sized to the load, and clipped and protected where it passes through the frame.
- Cable condition report
- Roof space and board inspected, with photographs, so you know what you have before you decide how far to go.
- Staged rewiring
- Whole-house rewires done in stages with the house occupied. You always finish the day with lights, a fridge and hot water.
- Chasing and patching
- Walls chased where a surface run would look bad, and patched back flush. We tell you before we cut which walls those are.
- Certification
- Everything tested and an Electrical Safety Certificate issued. On a full rewire you get an as-built circuit schedule with it.
What point and rewire work costs
Individual points are priced per point with the first one carrying the attendance. Rewires are always a fixed price after an inspection.
- Additional double power point
- $185 first, $95 each afterWhere there is roof or subfloor access. Same-visit points are much cheaper than a second trip.
- Weatherproof external point
- $240 – $320Coastal-rated enclosure, RCD protected, sealed at the wall penetration.
- Dedicated circuit for oven or aircon
- $420 – $780New cable, new breaker at the board, tested and certified. The usual fix for nuisance tripping.
- Full rewire, three-bedroom home
- $8,500 – $14,000Including a new switchboard, new points and lighting throughout, and patching. Quoted after inspection, never over the phone.
Double brick with no cavity access, concrete ceilings and two-storey runs push a rewire toward the top of that band. We show you why on the day we quote.
Before the work
- 01Mark roughly where you want each new point with a bit of masking tape. It is the fastest way to get the positions right.
- 02Move furniture away from the walls we will be working on, and clear the wardrobe under the manhole.
- 03For a rewire, pack away anything fragile in the rooms in that stage — there is more dust than a point install.
- 04If you have pets, plan where they will be. Doors get propped open and roof spaces get opened up.

5 out of 5
Two other sparkies quoted the charger off a photo of my meter box. Northline came out, spent an hour and a half working out what my board could actually carry, and gave me one number that did not move. Car turned up a week later and it just worked.

What people ask about power points & rewires
How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
Age and cable type, not how the lights look. If the house was built before 1970 and has never been rewired, there is a good chance of rubber-insulated cable in the roof. We can inspect and photograph it in under an hour, and plenty of those inspections end with us telling you it is fine.
Can we stay in the house during a rewire?
Yes, and nearly everyone does. We work room by room and reconnect at the end of each day, so you always have lights, the fridge and hot water. Bathrooms and kitchens are staged so you are not without them overnight.
Why does my oven need its own circuit?
A modern oven pulls a lot of current on its own, and a cooktop pulls more again. Running them off a kitchen power point circuit that also has the kettle and the toaster on it means the breaker is doing exactly what it should when it trips. A dedicated run costs less than most people expect.
Do you do sheds and granny flats?
Regularly, particularly out around Wanneroo and Banksia Grove. A shed on an extension lead is not a permanent supply. A proper sub-main with its own protection is, and it lets you run real tools out there.
