About the business
Northline started in 2011 with one van, one licence and the northern corridor. Fourteen years later it is two vans, three electricians and the same corridor, and staying that size is a decision rather than an accident.
The trade-off is straightforward. A larger outfit can send someone to Rockingham this afternoon. We cannot, and we will tell you so on the phone rather than take the booking. What we can do is be in Kingsley in forty minutes, because the depot is in Joondalup and the person answering the phone knows which van is where.

Dale Whitmore
Electrical contractor and owner
EC 13927 · EW 148206
Dale did his apprenticeship on new residential in the northern growth suburbs, then spent six years on commercial maintenance before starting Northline. The commercial years are the reason the fault-finding process on this site looks the way it does — in a shopping centre you cannot resolve a nuisance trip by replacing the breaker and driving away, because it will trip again on Saturday and it will be your name on the sheet.
He still holds the tools four days a week. If you book a switchboard or an EV charger there is a reasonable chance he is the one who turns up, and if he is not, he is the one who quoted it.
Four things that would otherwise just be marketing noise
- 01
We publish prices
Every service page on this site carries a price band and the reason it lands where it lands. It costs us the occasional job to someone cheaper. It saves everybody the twenty minutes of phone tag that 'competitive rates' guarantees.
- 02
The quote does not move
The number you agree to before we start is the number on the invoice. If we find something genuinely hidden — perished cable inside a wall, water in a board — we stop, show you, and quote it separately. It never appears on the bill as a surprise.
- 03
We test rather than assume
Faults get an insulation tester, not a guess. Safety switches get a calibrated instrument, not the button on the front. It is slower on the day and it is the reason we are not back a fortnight later.
- 04
We say no to work
If your board cannot take safety switches, we will not fit them anyway and call it compliant. If your house does not need a rewire, we will tell you that after the inspection you have already paid for. Turning work down is cheaper than the review that follows doing it badly.
Why we stay north
Response time is a function of distance, and there is no clever way around that. Everything from Alkimos down to Warwick and east to Wanneroo is inside forty minutes of the depot in normal traffic. Past that, the promise on the home page stops being true, and a promise that is only true sometimes is worse than not making it.
It also means we know the housing stock. The seventies brick and tile through Duncraig and Padbury has a particular set of problems. The 2015-onward estates out at Alkimos and Banksia Grove have a completely different set. Working the same twenty-six suburbs for fourteen years means we usually know what we are looking at before we open the board.
Talk to the owner
Ring and you will get an electrician, not a receptionist with a script.
We text when we are on the way, and you get the price before we start.
